Cutting Swatches & Kits
|
Several layers of precut fabric can be stacked
face up to give you large quantities of swatches fast, ready to be packaged for
sale or use. Here are a few samples.
Step 1: Precut fabric for the size of desired swatches. |
|
For 4" squares, cut off 20-1/2" pieces
from the bolt. |
|
For 5" squares, cut off 25-1/2" pieces
from the bolt. |
|
For 6" squares, cut off 24-1/2" pieces from
the bolt.
The dimensions given allow for trimming of the waste edges.
|
|
Unfold and stack the fabric in layers.
Unfold and stack 10 to 12 layers of fabric. It may be necessary
to use a larger rotary cutter (60mm) to cut thicker stacks of fabric. |
|
Cut out the fold.
Cut about 1/4" on each side of the fold. |
|
Make vertical cuts.
Place the cutting guide on the front rail and make vertical cuts. Using Mat-Saver
Strips speed up this process. |
|
Make horizontal cuts with the short
cutting guide.
Place the cutting guide on a side rail and make horizontal cuts. Again, using
your Mat-Saver Strips. Then... |
|
... move the cutting guide to the other side rail and make horizontal
cuts.
